Welcome to James Dickson Books
At James Dickson Books, we specialise in rare Bibles, Puritan writings, Reformation classics, and antiquarian theology. Our carefully curated stock ranges from the earliest English translations of Scripture to 19th-century revivals, offering treasures for both serious collectors and readers with a love for church history.
Our Story
James Dickson Books was founded out of a passion for Christian heritage and the printed word. Over the years, we have built a reputation as trusted booksellers, supplying rare theological works to collectors, libraries, pastors, and students worldwide.
Our specialities cover early English Bibles— Tyndale, Coverdale, and Geneva editions—and Puritan and Nonconformist works by authors such as Thomas Watson, John Owen, Stephen Charnock, Thomas Brooks, Ralph Venning, and George Swinnock. We also handle significant works from the Scottish Covenanters such as Samuel Rutherford, James Durham, David Dickson and Reformation-era Europeean authors like John Calvin, Martin Luther, etc.
Over time, our expertise has expanded to include 18th- and 19th-century theology, including the Marrow Men, Ralph and Ebenezer Erskine, and Thomas Boston. We also specialise in the rich heritage of the Free Church of Scotland and the Disruption of 1843, alongside the writings of C. H. Spurgeon and developments within American Presbyterianism.
